This year I am thinking about audition for PBT. I was wondering if the audition is really hard or any other details about the audition. Also, I was wondering about the intensive as a whole, pros and cons.

I auditioned this year for PBT but didn't make it (I'm not too disapointed because it wasn't my top choice). Anyway the audtion was not too hard. We did barre and then had to put on pointe shoes for center. We only did three combinations on pointe. I think all of them had pirrouetes in them and they expected doubles. So be sure to have your doubles on pointe. The hard part was that there was only one audition with all ages. So during combinations in center I would have to be careful to make sure I had enough space so not to run into the smaller girls. Otherwise it wasn't too bad. The auditioner seemed to pay alot of attention to the younger ones who had a lot of potential (which is understandable) but it kind of left the older dancers in the dark.
Hope this helps!

I haven't auditioned for PBT this year and don't really remember the audition from last year, but I did attend the program last year. As a whole, I enjoyed the program, but felt like I could have improved more at a more ballet-focused program. If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

I went to PBT this past summer and just auditioned again (2nd time) for the program yesterday. I really liked the program as a whole. The teachers really care and the classes were really challenging. The performance at the end is absolutely spectacular as well. I think I improved a lot especially in pointe work and pas de deux. It doesn't mater what level you are in it's all in how you use the classes and corrections and apply them to yourself. I also loved the guest teachers, they were absolutely amazing. Although I did improve, I think I could've improved more if they had organized pointe a little better Usually by the end of the day my feet were so sore I could barely get through rep. This is because we took of our shoes for a different class like jazz or modern and then put them back on for rep. PBT is amoung a top choice again this year because it was just soooooo amazing. :) I'm just not sure where I want to go back again yet, I'm keeping my options open.

PS: my audition was super hard, I had Margorie Grundvig (co-artistic director)and she did fouettes at the end. Which I though was weird, but... plus she only did fouettes for thoose old enough (about 10th grade) and strong enough.I didn't get selected to do them, but I'm pretty sure that was because I'm still only a freshmen. She has seen me do fouettes before during the program.
It depends on who is conducting your audition. At most double pirouettes en pointe should be enough. Plus, turns/ getting selected to do turns isn't everything. :)You can still get in... Good luck!

Anyone who has been to PBT have more information? I'm trying to decide between PBT and Nutmeg (which I did last year and loved).
Are the classes intense?
Are the teachers good?
Do you feel that you were challenged?
