I do log-in at work or on other public computers from time to time. I hate checking the "do not remember me, I'm a on a public computer box" because oftentimes an hour isn't a substantial amount of time. More often than not, I'll write out a long, thoughtful reply and when I hit submit, I'm told my hour is up and to log-in but by then, the post I wrote is long gone and instead of rewriting it, I just give up. I realize I could solve this problem by using a word processing program and copy and pasting, but the computer I'm on will only allow X number of word processing items open and frankly the work ones are more important so... Also, I do private browsing, but even then this is a shared computer, I'd feel better not worrying about if I signed out of stopped private browsing.
Is there any way for us to check the public/do not remember cookies box and be able to select a time period? For instance:
After you tic the box, a screen comes up with a drop down menu
1 hour
2 hours
3 hours
4 hours
You select how long to stay logged in for. I realize the same issue might come up, where you start writing a post at 3 hours and 56 mins and by the time you hit send at 4 hours and 2 mins you're logged out, but in theory, your shift is up anyway. I don't know if I'm the only person who would want this, but I do want this! 4 Replies to Temp log-in/public computer |

Just wanted to say, I don't share computers so I never run into this.
I think this is a great idea though! I can see a real need for this, if I ever start working a job where I can browse the internet |

You know, you still have to be on top of things and know exactly how long you're going to be at the computer, which isn't really compatible with a modern lifestyle of flexibility and spur of the moment changes in plan.
I would suggest that when logged out on a form submit, you should get a chance to log in again while retaining the form data and putting you back on the edit/compose page after that. This would also help if your IP address changes or other things happen that log you out while working on a post... |

That would definitely work. Mostly, it's just frustrating losing a post because I've had to walk away from the computer and do other things and then by the time I finish my thought I've lost track of the time. If that is something feasible than I'd definitely appreciate it! |

what about a timer or something that would pop up and let you know that you had 10 minutes left or 5 minutes left and then you can copy your post so it doesn't get erased and re log in? |
