So I recently wrote in another post that I couldn't think of a music video with contemporary dancers in it. Well here it is - proving me wrong - and it's FRICKIN AWESOME!
But if you want to go WAY BACK, here's the ORIGINAL contemporary dance video. And it's still just as amazing as it was in the 80s when it was produced. Gotta love Kate Bush!

Laura Marling was already one of my favourite artists, this just makes me love her even more.
Its pretty obvious Kate bush is a trained dancer, but how trained? I saw an interview with her once in a studio and have been curious about her background in dance every since.

I know this. When kate got her recording contract at 16, she took a few years off to study dance and acting. She also studied a lot of mime because she trained with Lindsay Kemp (who was in "The Line, The Cross, and the Curve" - Kate's short film based on the red shoes).

Oh gosh, I heard a song called "Running up that Hill" recently on the radio. It was a remade version but I had no idea how old the original was. In reality, I had no idea it was an 80's song.

I absolutely love Kate Jablonski's work. Besides her artistic prowess, her videos serve as excellent examples of talented young dancers performing age-appropriate choreography.

I love Kate Jablonski.
I've watched Ghosts like a million times, and I love everything about it - the music, the story, the movement, the acting, everything.
I've watched I Was Just A Card a few times now, and I don't know what it is about it that I just don't love. I still love Kate's choreography, but I don't get the same "OMG I LOVE THIS" feeling that I have gotten over other of her videos.
Some (most?) of it is probably the song choice. I don't know if it would have been Kate's first choice to choreograph to... Some of it is the fact that it's mostly a duet. The thing I've loved so much about her other vids is the strong ensemble of dancers, and they're relegated to a backstage position in most of this video...

Thank you very much for posting these videos. My family members often ask me to explain what modern dance is, and I find myself at a loss for words. All the videos in this thread really help demonstrate the different movement vocabulary of modern dance.

I adore the camera angles! Very neat! Thank you for sharing! Kate is a fantastic choreographer, who shows everyone that talented dancers are not always the ones who get invited to the trophy table because of their kicks and fouette turns!
