New Visions
A Choreography Competition 2012
Description Idaho Dance Theatre announces a call for entries for New Visions - A Choreography Competition, to identify one emerging choreographer who will have an opportunity to present their original contemporary dance work during our Winter Performance 2013 on our talented, professional company dancers. IDT is committed to continuing its tradition of working with artists of diverse experiences and backgrounds, and utilizes New Visions as a way to help showcase new voices in dance for our audience.
One selected choreographer will participate in a six-day residency from December 3-8, 2012. During the residency period, the choreographer will be able to work full time with the company dancers (usually 6-8 in number) to set the winning work on the company for the Winter Performance (January 25-27, 2013). An informal presentation of the resulting work will be shown in our Studio on the final day (Dec 8) and open to the public. The selected choreographer will work with our company dancers; IDT’s Artistic Directors, Carl Rowe and Marla Hansen will help guide this residency and assist with costuming and lighting for the performance.
