The moderators will review your application, and you'll receive an automated private message when your application is accepted or rejected.

I just sent in my paypal fee and my application. I forgot to include which studio I teach at, do I need to send another one?

I also went to paypal to pay my fee, and it didn't show up that "YumYumdoughnut" was trying to pay for the certificate. As long as we clicked the link while we were logged in, do you guys know that I paid the fee? I took a screenshot just incase.

We are able to tag the transaction in such a way that we know what dance.net user initiated it, so no worries there...

As one of the very hesitant teachers, it sounds like the moderators are making the decisions as to who is "in", correct? Will my identifying information (ie. my name and location) ever be shared with members (both general and those accepted to the board)? Before I consider the plunge, I would appreciate knowing what final decisions were made on some of the "issues" that we had previously discussed. (And if I am asking questions that are answered on another page, please let me know where that is and I will stop bugging you!) =)

Is there a way to pay with cash or money order? I do not have PayPal and will not pay online with a credit card. Thanks in advance

Mods are doing it only. So far it's been easy, everyone applying have been long standing members so there's not a whole lot of debate as to your legitimacy. We check to make sure your name appears in the place you say it should, we click approve and voila! It will be more crucial when we get applications from folks we don't know yet, but for know, I've making making a cursory glace at the web site, going yep Ms. X works for ABC Dance, and then clicking you through. Possibly with a few, "oooh what lovely dancers!" along the way.

I am glad that it is going so smoothly for the mods. But is there anywhere that explains what happens to my personal information? Maybe I'm being a pain and overly protective, but I would appreciate official notice that my details won't be shared with anyone other than the mods. I am still incredibly hesitant to make this jump (due to reasons in the previous decision), but I am also trying to be supportive of the website.

You could always buy a visa gift card and use that!

Hadn't thought of that?! I sometimes have trouble with those in places like the grocery store and such I suppose I could give it a try?! Thanks for the idea!!

Sorry, I missed that part of your question. We recieve a form like this:

The user 'Sumayah' has made payment for joining the teachers group.

The application text is as follows: Name: XXXX

I currently teach at XXXX, viewable here: XXXX . I began teaching straight out of college in the summer of 1999. I graduated with a degree in dance with honors. I am a member of XXXX (since 2001).

Obviously, I X'd out the important info for viewing here, but that's what the mods receive in their inbox. We verify information and then select the approve function. All that appears on your profile is "Teachers (full)" under groups, meaning you have full access to the private teacher boards. None of the info you submitted is shown anywhere. Only the mods have access to the information you submit (and frankly given the number of mod reports we get a day, it's not something that will stay on the front page of our email for more than a few hours).

I don't teach for a studio at the moment, is there anyway I can prove my credentials? I'm still waiting for a new copy of my teaching qualification certificate to arrive so I don't have that as proof at the moment. I literally only have the module certificates and the odd hall-hire receipt from a local gym :/

A bank debit/credit card works, too. Also, you don't need a credit card to have a Paypal account, just a bank account.

I'm waiting to see how things play out for the next couple of months before I decide to join or not.

Like MissSharon I will not pay for anything online. I'm also in Canada. Would you take a mailed postal money order?

Does anyone happen to know an e-mail address where you can contact the DDN mods? I tried to send an e-mail to webmaster@ dance.net but it said it was an unattended e-mail address. I sent in my application and paid last week Tuesday but I haven't heard anything about it since, so I would like to ask the mods what's going on.

Or...does it usually take this long and am I just being impatient?

I would just click on the "Mod" button and they will all get the message.

Replace "Webmaster" with "Moderators". Or, as Majere said, click the mod button and we'll see your report. I've not had anything to do with the Teacher Board applications so far as it was set up while I was away, so I'm only just getting up to speed on the whole thing now.

Also, if you pay with an e-check, they can take up to a week to clear, and we can't approve you for the private board before you've technically paid for it.
