Feel free to move this thread, but since the alternative menstrual products thread is here I though it would fit.
I myself use the ladycup and not the divacup, but I thought this is a really cute ad for cups:
www.youtube.com . . .
just wanted to share it. I am really sad that you really can't buy them offline in germany. the pharmacy lady didn't even heard about it and the only german youtube video is a scary how to homeinsemaniate with the cup o.O without you girls on ddn I would probably have spent a lot more on tampons 4 Replies to Menstrual cups ad! There is a German brand of menstrual cup that might be easier for you to find offline. It's called "MeLuna", comes in 4 sizes (S, M, L and XL), 2 types of stiffness (classic and soft), 4 types of stems (classical, ring, ball, no stem) and a large panel of colors (including a glittery one). Here's the website: meluna.eu
Here, you can find a list most of the available cups in the world, with their caracteristics, origins and prices (it's in French but knowing the language isn't really necessary to the understanding of the info). |

I got mine on amazon where I shop frecently. I did my research on english website, since I understand it quite well.
As often as I get the possibility I talk about the cup and how it changed my life during my period. I just find it sad that in germany it's very unlikely to just strumple over the cup and discover it in that way. School books only contain information about tampons etc, no teacher ever talked about the cup, my doc never mentioned it, they aren't in stock at any pharmacy I visited, also the "natural shops" I know don't have them. Firms like ladycup don't make an ad for tv or cinema.
the german teeny magazin "bravo" did an article recently on cups, I was really happy to read it. But must woman will never hear of it, that is really sad.
Thank you for your post! the MeLuna website is really interesting and it's cool to see that there are so many different products all around the world. |

I'm in Belgium and there's almost no information available about the cup either.
I've discovered it on DDN and found the French website when doing more reasearch. Neither of my GP not my OBGYN had heard about the cups before me. In France, there've been a article in a magazine ( Marianne ) and a subject in a health documentrary on TV but both time, the conclusion was that it'a complex thing used by the "extremist-ecolo" and that Tampax were the solution. |

Of course I am happy to be eco with the cup, but there are advantages that count way more. Just to thing about my period twice a day when I empty the cup is great. I can be active and around public toilet and I don't have to worry about forgetting tampons or if there is a trash can. I can go visit male friends without the embarassing walk to the kitchen trash can, because they mostly don't have one in the bathroom.
Those people out there are crazy and probably just scared to loose the money they earn with disposable products |
