I'm producing a show entitled "Ghost Town: Inhabitants of the Abandoned City" for the Adelaide Fringe this year, with a new company called The 8068 Project. Our choreographer, Cera Byer, is based in San Francisco, and our cast is spread out across the US and Australia. Our rehearsals currently take place via skype and video, leading up to an intensive rehearsal period in Adelaide before opening night on March 8.
The show is about abandoned cities, theme parks, fairgrounds and shopping malls, and the characters left homeless when these places are left behind. We've been invited to use a space below the abandoned Dazzleland theme park in the Myer Centre, and are now raising funds to turn this space into a theatre.
One of the rewards for contributing to our campaign is one of these "Dance is my Boyfriend" tshirts, lovingly designed by our choreographer/director. If you're interested in owning one, learning more about our project, buying tickets to our show, attending a workshop or open rehearsal, or grabbing any of the other rewards we have on offer, please take a look at rockethub.com/projects/1949-ghost-town-an-international-dance-project
(My apologies if this is considered advertising - we're just really excited about this show and need all the help we can get to make it happen). 3 Replies to "Dance is my Boyfriend" tshirts, fundraising for a new dance company |

corinnabee, if you're wanting to know how the tshirts are related to the show, they were designed by our choreographer who has been selling them on her website for the past few years. On a previous trip to Australia, a lot of dancers asked her to bring them out to sell at her workshops, but the logistics were too difficult, so this time I've found a local printer to make us up a batch for her visit to Australia.
We're also offering a public workshop, and inviting people to view a dress rehearsal to help with our fund raising. We're just a group of passionate but broke dancers trying to get our first show up and running, and hoping that we're offering rewards that will appeal to our audience
contemp_is_rad, feel free to drop in and say hi. |
