About Ballet Theatre of Maryland
Ballet Theatre of Maryland's School of Classical and Contemporary Dance (BTM School), the official school of the Ballet Theatre of Maryland, has been training dance students since 1978. The BTM School has been under the artistic direction of Dianna Cuatto since 2003.
The Summer Intensive is a 3-6 week intensive training program for advanced beginner through pre-professional dancers. Classes meet Monday-Friday and feature courses in technique, pointe, variations, jazz, flamenco, character, modern, and Pilates. It also includes choreography and acting seminars and mini-workshops.
The program is designed for male and female dancers ages 9 through advanced who are interested in a complete ballet training program focusing on contemporary and classical ballet repertoire.
What is the Choreographic Institute?
The Choreographic Institute is a 6 week intensive training program for advanced, ages 17 through pre-pro, dancers. Classes meet Monday-Friday, three to four classes per day plus rehearsals with new choreographers and a performance featuring their new works.
Apprentices for the 2012-2013 Season are selected from the summer session of the Choreographic Institute. Sixteen participants will be determined by audition only. Send bio and audition request to BTM, 801 Chase St., Annapolis, MD 21401.
Faculty include Ballet Theatre of Maryland dancers, as well as faculty from Milwaukee Ballet and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.
