I'm so excited!! I have been looking for a job since November or so an was starting to get very nervous because I didn't have any money to spend on groceries (boyfriend pays bills) but I got the call this morning. Even better, it was a job I thought I didn't get. The guy forgot to call me before he left for vacation, asked brother to call me and he forgot so he just got back yesterday and called this morning.

But I will admit I am nervous. This is my first full time job (last job was during college and very part time, only 11 hours a week) and this job is 36 hours a week when I have the weekend off, 47 hours when I work the weekend so lots of hours (good pay though) and it's split shifts. I'm going to be working at a dairy barn so some days will be two shifts. Luckily, the guy I'm taking over for has most afternoon (12pm-6pm) and night (7pm-2am) shifts and only one morning shift (7am-11am) a week so that's great because I'm not a morning person. But combine split shifts with driving I'm going to have near to no free time whatsoever so it's going to be a rough transition.

Excited! Very excited...but very nervous. The money will be good though Working at dairy barns are actually one of the best paying jobs in this area.

I do "training" on the 1st and the guy I'm taking over for has his last day on the 9th I think. So excited. So nervous. haha I'm also extremely relieved to have a job and start earning some money.

Everybody tells me that working at a dairy is hard work so I'm nervous about that, but I was raised on a farm and know hard work but I don't know if what I'm expecting is harder or easier than what it really is...

Well done!

Yes, dairy farms are hard work, my uncle ran one in the UK and my husband used to pick up the milk from the farms near us in Ireland but you'll be fine.

This is good news to hear :)

I am so happy for you. The first shifts will be so exciting that you don't even notice that you are exhausted :)

Have a lot of fun, with the job and of course with the earned money ;)

So how is it going so far? I know nothing about farming. (though I said I wanted to be a farmer when I was little, but I think I really wanted a personal zoo as I had know idea what farming entails lol) What are your general duties on the farm?

I won't be starting until Feb 1st and taking over full time Feb 9th. But I think my main duties is just the milking.
