So, which is better? :P

As a snowboarder my self, I'm obviously biased. So much more park potential, And I love the feel of controling your direction by using the slightest movement of your foot to warp the board ever so slightly. And speaking of boards, mine (pictured) Looks much more BA than any set of skis I've ever seen ;)

So, which side are you guys on?

I skiied for the first time recently and loved it! My boyfriend thinks I would be a great boarder (he boards) because of the body control I learned from dance. Maybe next time i'll board with him.

My skis were pretty BA though...the were bright yellow!

No contest. Snowboarding is bomb. As sick as Warren Miller makes skiing look, snowboarders are still the beasts of the mountain. Plus the clothes make you automatically awesome. Oh and ... Shaun Mc-White is ours. Win!

As I've never been boarding, I vote ski!

Uber, my ski jacket is bright yellow! My favorite color and very easily spotted on the slopes. :)

Definitely skiing. I've done both, so I'm not just pulling it out of nowhere. I find skiing much more enjoyable, I love the control and razor sharp turns you can make, and best of all, you aren't on your bum nearly as much! Not because of falling, but because as far as I know, there really isn't a good way to stop midway down a slope as a boarder besides having to sit down in the snow.

Also, I love the fashion (bright purple one piece, ftw!) and definitely think that skis can have good designs. I would agree that boards probably have a wider variety of pretty designs overall.

However, in terms of ultimate epic-ness? Definitely belongs to the telemarkers. More skill and intensity is definitely not present in any other type of snow transport. I mean, lunging every time you turn? Definitely a work out. I've tried it a few times, and I nearly died the first time I went, both because of difficulty and muscles needed!

lol, you kind of push turn so that you're facing forwards, rock back on your heels and you can come to a dead stop on a steep slope without your butt touching the groud. It took me way too long to figure that one out -.-

I've done both, and I couldn't get the hang of boarding, so I'll stick with skiing, thanks.

I don't like boarders, not as people, but because it sucks to share the slopes with them. There's always big groups of boarders sitting on their buts, fastening their boots, blocking the top of the lift, and boarding rips up the slope for skiiers. Because if the way that boarders turn, they always leave big patches of ice and drifts of snow in places which get in the way for the path that skiiers take down the mountain. They should make some runs snowboard free. That would make me happy.

The one thing I do prefer about snowboarding, though is the boots. Ski-boots are uncomfortable rigid plastic, and walking around the lodge with ankles that don't bend makes you move like a dork. Snowboard boots are so much nicer. I'd buy them to wear day-to-day if that was feasible.

I've only ever tried skiing. The idea of having both of my feet strapped to a board kind of makes me panicky. I just feel like I NEED to be able to move my feet independently of one another, just in case. In case of what? I don't know, but that's just how I feel about it.

My husband has tried both. He is sort of duck-footed, so he had trouble with skiing because it hurts his knees to turn in, which is what us beginners usually need to do in order to stop or slow down. So then he tried snowboarding, and he became that guy that everyone else keeps pointing and laughing at because he could not stay upright for more than 20 feet at a time. So for him, I think skiing wins, even though he does find it uncomfortable.

I've done both, and skiing wins. Or, more technically, blading. :D (If you don't know what that is, here's a picture: www.ski-blades.com . . .) I love my blades! They make me feel so free and light when I use them--back before I got all injured and such I did lots of tricks on them. Never did a handstand though--that's my goal for next season now. But I just love them. If I end up doing ski patrol next season I'm going to have to get long skis though, since they do not let you use blades. I ski like I blade though, so even though I carry poles when I ski I rarely use them, because you don't use poles with blades. :D

I've skied the longest (this is my 17th season on the slopes--it's the only thing I've been doing longer than dancing. Well, besides breathing, you know. :D), and I only boarded for 4ish years. I never quite got comfortable with it. I wasn't bad, but I never found it as fun as skiing. I always was focused more on my balance and trying to perfect my skills than having fun, and when I tried to have fun I ended up losing control sometimes (luckily I would always make myself fall before I hit anyone/anything), which NEVER happens to me on skis. I retired from boarding after I managed to run over my own knee with the board (yeah dude, I don't even know).

I've always wanted to try race snowboarding (I'm not sure if that's really what it's called--you use a ski-ish hard boot and a snowboard that basically looks like a flattened out traditional ski instead of a twin tip like most snowboards). It looks fun, and I think I could control the shape better than I can control a board. Picture! www.google.com . . . I will not be making that turn, however. :) I think the control with the boots and everything would be really fun, sort of like a combination of skiing and boarding.

So all in all, skiing over boarding, those telemark skiers are crazy (another thing I could never do), I want to try race snowboarding, and blading beats everything because it is amazing. :)
