So I posted asking for opinions of the Paragard IUD, and y'all gave such helpful advise! I just wanted to let y'all know that I went to my doctor today. She actually stopped inserting IUDs about 10 years ago, but she talked to me about a few options and we decided that Paragard was best for me. She said normally they don't put them in young women who haven't had a child yet because if I got an STI then it could very easily get into my womb and possibly cause infertility. However, as both my boyfriend and myself have never been sexually active before she did not think this would be an issue. she also suggested that, if he and I didn't end up together in the end, that I should consider getting the HPV vaccine to protect myself and, of course, always use a condom. She then called another clinic that she has known a long time and who are very good and do provide IUDs while I was still in the office and explained why I wanted an IUD. since she referred me, they will do it and I should be getting a call from them in the next few days! I'll have to have a consultation first, then a pap smear, and then when I come back I can get the IUD. I thought it was really great of my doctor to advocate for me like that and I am really looking forward to getting my IUD!
