Hello Everyone!
I teach a boys only acro/hip-hop class that averages between the ages of 7-10, most of the boys in the class have been doing this for quite a few years now, and I'm starting to run out of ideas for a recital dance for them. In the past they've done many sports related themes: baseball, football, karate, they've been pirates, they've done a military themed dance. Looking for any suggestions for a theme or songs to use for them?? It's so much harder to pick out music for boys I think.

There are great songs revolving around super heroes!! Check out all of the recent movie soundtracks

Another idea would be something from Transformers or Star Wars (think Storm Troopers since it would be too hard to represent all of the various characters).

And another idea could be cops/robbers?

Good luck!! There are a ton of themes out there for boys-Just think like one and determine what their likes/interests are? Maybe they like science? So they could be Mad Scientists? Or if they like space/astronomy, they could be astronauts? Ask them what they like and I bet that will get your creative juices flowing!!

What about monsters? Aliens? I love the mad scientist idea! Ninjas. Cowboys. James Bond. Mechanics. Skateboards. Thats all just off the top of my head.

Do they need a theme? Can they just be ultra awesome B-Boys? We have a show here in Australia called Young Talent Time and one of the acts this past weekend were a group of tween aged B-Boys, and they were certainly a postive topic of conversation at school on monday.

They're all great songs for boys that can fit many themes.

There is the best Super Mario Bros remix!! (Trying to remember the artist, but I got it off of itunes). I did Mario and Luigi costumes and had a boys hip hop routine to it for the same ages and combo. Plus, the boys really got into the theme and hammed it up big. It was great:)
