I have been in "Once on this Island" once before. We usually just called it "...Island" in rehearsal.

It's one of my favorite shows from one of my favorite composers. The music is beautiful, and I especially like it because it can include some very interesting dance if the choreographer works to do so.

Definitely give the CD a listen to get a feel for the show, there is very little of the show that isn't in the songs. If done traditionally, it's a black-only show so if your area isn't predominately black there may have to be a few word-changes. Things like "They despise us for our blackness" doesn't read as well if the singer(s) aren't actually black. However, that's easily workable.

Do you audition for this show? When?

I'm auditioning in April, but its always good to be prepared. It's though my local children's theatre. I really want to get Ti Moune, bu we have some good senior. Sadly I'm the only one that takes dance, but a plus for casting me!
