I have A LOT of crystals to put on DD's new dress tonight(about 60 large pears and hundreds of others), and I'm using Gem-tac for the first time (I've always used hotfix) sticking on large pears and large crystals, and I'm looking for advice. I'm a dab hand with hotfix, but not sure how much glue to use on large crystals a) dont want to make a pigs ear of it b) I want them to stay put!!

All advice gratefully received!!

I use the top of a pin or one of the ends of a bobby pin and dab it into the glue and then onto the back of the crystal. I cover the whole surface of the diamond but not too thick:)

I put small globs of glue (size of the stones roughly) on the dress and stick the stones in the glue. GemTac dries clear so even a little spill around the edges won't show, and you need the stones to be fixed good and tight. I generally put about 4-8 drops of glue on the dress before sticking the stones on. Goes very quickly. I use one of those wax-tipped sticks to pick the stones up from the table and into the glue.

Same here- and if you find the gem tac comes out to fast Dreamtime creations has a nice syringe kit that has needles with openings for each type of glue and it really helps control the flow= kit also comes with jewlers sticks which really makes things go quickly

I put the glue onto the dress and then put the crystal over it using jewel setters. It is two sticks - each has a ball of wax at one end and a point at the other. You pick up the crystal using the wax end and use the point of the other stick to deposit it on the glue.

I use E6000 and I ave found that a bamboo skewer works the best, you can use as little or as much as you need. I generally cover the entire stone, but it does dry clear and fast so if it seeps a little around the edges it won't show! I am almost..cross fingers.. Don't stoning my Dds new dress with almost 6 gross!... It's pretty " Grossed out" as we say around here;)
