Looking for a highland dancing outfit for my daughter who is 5, but quite petite.

She has a display next week so preferrably from someone close to endinburgh so I could collect, or who would be willing to recieve payment by paypal and post quickly!

Also, she has been going to lessons for a while but this is her first display and im not sure about if she should wear a waistcoat or jacket, or particular colour...help much appreciated!!:)

I have a kilt which would fit her perfectly, but unfortunately it won't be for sale until the summertime.

With regards to the waistcoat/jacket, I would recommend a waistcoat when they are really small. The little ones seem to get much more wear out of a waistcoat, and the jacket can look very awkward on stage if they don't have the best arm technique (which most 5 years olds don't). My wee one's dance teacher has always recommended waistcoats for the little ones, it looks much nicer.

Thanks, that's really good advice about the waistcoat! I can't find many second hand outfits for sale, where would you recommend looking for either a new or second hand kilt/outfit?

I found my wee ones outfit on here, but I may have been lucky. I'm surprised no-one has offered any to you, just keep bumping it up to the top of the list and I'm sure someone will notice your post...keep an eye on the for sale section too!

Your best bet other than here is at dance competitions, there are always people selling outfits.

I have a cerise menzies kilt outfit for sale. This is a full kilt with waistcoat, socks, blouse and black pants. There is also a pair of billy forsyths (not sure of size). The outfit was made when my daughter was 5. She is now 8 and still petite. She has only now outgrown the waistcoat. There is still room for growth in the kilt. I have no idea of measurements at the moment as we have only just received her new outfit. I had intended to take it to sell at comps. Could check measurements later. We are situated in Lanarkshire. Might be of interest.

Hi, I am currently at work and will measure the kilt etc. when I get home - sometime after 6.00pm. I would probably be able to accept paypal - although personally I have never used my husband has an account. The outfit is in very good condition and the cerise colour is really lovely for a wee girl. Will revert asap.

I have never measured anything for sale before far less a kilt! Hopefully I've got these right - here goes

Kilt
Length - 14.5" with 3" hem
Waist - 20/21" with buckles at smallest

Waistcoat
Chest - 25"
Length - 15" neck to point

Socks
Toe to heel - 7"
Heel to turn down - 11"
Socks have some marking at toe and heel area - from new shoes.

pumps are either a size 11 or 12 and measure 7"

My daughter waist currently measures 21" and chest is 24.5"

I was just wondering if you are still looking for a kilt. I have a full kilt outfit for sale which my daughter got when she was 6 years old but she is very petite so it may still fit. The kilt is the Canadian Turquoise McPherson tartan and it comes with a turquoise waistcoat, blouse and two pairs of hose.
