Hi Everyone!
I just received my letter from North Carolina School of the Arts High School program, I have been reading on lots of different forums about people's opinions about the program. I will be a Junior next year so if there are any current Juniors out there! I just want to know about the dance program and what your thoughts about it are. Thanks! 6 Replies to University North Carolina School of the Arts High School |

I'm not a junior, but I'm a sophomore that goes to UNCSA! I really like it here and have improve so much in the past year and a half. Juniors have technique M-F, pointe 3x a week, pas 1x a week, pilates or acting 1x a week, contemporary 3x a week, and rehearsals 2 days-6 days a week. All of the teachers are great and really want everyone to improve. Classes are fairly small: anywhere from 12-18ish people. Everyone performs 3x a year, be downtown at the Stevens Center (the big shows) or in smaller shows on campus.
I don't really know what else you want to know, but I'm happy to answer any other questions, either here or by PM. |

I've heard great things about NCSA and have worked with dancers who graduated from the program. It's a great deal, where else can you get state-supported ballet training in the USA? |

I was waitlisted for their freshman year. Can anyone predict the odds of getting off the waitlist? I really wanted to go. |

I don't think anyone has a definite answer. I do know people who have been on the waitlist and were able to get off of it. I also know people that weren't able to get off of it, but when they auditioned the next year, they were accepted. |

Thank you very much. I will keep hoping. Any other answers? |

Call them up. Ask them how long the waitlist is. Ask them how many people they took off the waitlist last year, and how long it was last year. Divide the number of people they typically take by the typical size of the waitlist, and that will give you an offhand estimate of your chances. |
