College Payment for tutoring. en>fr fr>en By Panda_Bear Comments: 268, member since Tue Feb 02, 2010On Thu Feb 02, 2012 10:14 PM
My best friend lets shorten her name to S, is tutoring me in calculus. She's 2 years ahead of me in school, and has done the course I am doing and is an amazing tutor, very paitent, organized ect. We have a set weekly time to work as we both thrive on schedules. We work 2x a week for any where from 20 min to an hour and a half depending on how many questions I have. I've offered to pay her and she refuses, typicall of her. Would it be appropriate to give S a weekend at my family's cabin for tutoring me for the last 2 years? She always refuses to let me pay her and I was hoping that S wouldn't be upset by that idea. I know she loves going to my cabin, S has come with my family a few times on ski trips up there. Is that and a dinner gift card for $50 ish enough? Would it be inappropriate? What would you do in this situation? 2 Replies to Payment for tutoring. |

I think those are lovely ideas-she is tutoring you out of friendship and you are expressing your appreciation for that friendship-you received some amazing tutoring and she will receive the gift of fun-it's a win win, |

I would invite her to your cabin. Maybe instead of giving her a gift card maybe go out to dinner together and tell your waiter that you will be paying the check so she can't fight you on it. Or if there is something special she's been dying to buy you could buy it for her. |
