About Shooting Stars, LLC Shooting Stars is an award-winning Dance Performance Company based in the Upper East and Upper West Side of NYC. We coach 4 age groups from 5-18, specializing in jazz-pom, precision, and hip-hop. Our teams compete twice each spring, using the previous school year to rehearse choreography and focus on technique.
We also provide dance classes (of all styles) to Private Schools throughout the city, usually as part of their after-school program. Many of our talented staff participate in both aspects of the company, while others focus on one.
We are hiring Dancers with NFL / NBA Cheerleading or Collegiate Dance Team experience, to choreograph and coach for our award-winning performing arts company. This is a year-long position with competitive, hourly pay. Specifically, we are looking to fill this position for our oldest team (ages 14-18). While the position officially begins in June, we may have assistant opportunities in April and May, as we prepare for upcoming competitions.
We are both looking for someone with dance team experience and all that implies: Tons of energy, enthusiasm, and eye for perfection! Someone who is creative with staging/formations, cleaning and teaching new skills. Someone who is Loud! A positive and Inspiring attitude. The choreographic style is high energy pom jazz with an emphasis on hiphop and pop music (think cheer comp music!). Our high school team has won first place and high overall score for the last 2 years, and we are taking it to the next level!
The commitment involves the following:
-choreographing the competition routine(s)
-Summer Intensive: teaching for the last 3 weeks of June (M-TH 12:30-3 aprox)
-Coaching Fridays 4-6pm from September-May (mid-to-end)
-attending 2 competitions (usually 1 in April, 1 in May)
-attending occasional Paid staff meetings
If you cannot commit to the FULL year (June, Sept-May) and the Friday rehearsals, please do not submit for this position.
