Ask a Studio Owner When to send out Next years stuff? en>fr fr>en By bbdc Comments: 122, member since Thu Feb 17, 2011On Fri Feb 03, 2012 01:29 PM
This is my first year and I am curious about when you send out all your info for the next year?
When do you start to market your summer stuff?
When do you send out notices to students who are eligible to join the competition team next year?
Thanks in advance 5 Replies to When to send out Next years stuff? |

I had my summer and fall schedule set by April. That is when I sent it out and gave an "early bird discount" for signing up early. Mind you, my "discount" was my actual price and my "regular" price was higher than I needed.
I also would send out notices that certain classes were filling up, so hurry soon or end up on a waiting list. That seemed to help.
Many people offer things like first choice for recital seating for signing up early, too. |

I set it in March and we start open enrollment mid April and current student enrollment starts after Spring Break! |

My parents started asking me for summer info when we got back from Holiday Break! So, people around here, start early. I "officially" gave out summer info beginning Feb 1 (although when people asked for it before then, I had the information ready). I found that my summer camps weren't "selling", so I decided to change my format a little and see what happens. I wanted to basically be the first one ready!
Right now, I'm working on my Fall schedule. It's so hard to do it in advance because some of my teachers have no idea if they will be continuing. But, I have to go forward because I like to send out my fall registration information when I send out the recital ticket buying, DVD, picture stuff because then it is all on their minds.
I offer discounts to those who do it ahead of time.
Like Dreamchaser said, I've learned (from here)to set my discounts at what I want per class, and the other price is higher.
I am relatively new so I think that some people are still weary of signing up so far in advance. However, this fall, a few classes got filled and those that waited until the second week of classes (assuming that there would be plenty of room) got waitlisted. So, I really think that more people will start signing up early.
I say the earlier the better. Those Moms that need to schedule everything 6 months in advance will appreciate it. And, the ones that don't, can wait until they are ready (assuming that they don't want a popular class). |

I like to be prepared in advanced...so Im thinking Ill start working on it and get it out in March.
Do you email everything...(schedules, ticket info..ect) or do you mail it to their houses? Im at about 50 families..so regular mail is an expense. I know not all of my families check their email...they joke with me about how young and technological the studio is. |

I only email. I keep copies at the studio for those that aren't able to print an attachment. For those families that aren't technologically up to date, they can get pretty behind at my studio. We do put signs up at the studio too but not everybody comes inside. But, I will not waste money on snail mail...unfortunately. I ONLY do email, put signs up, make announcements in class, facebook, twitter, update the website. |
