I have two competitions, that will be several days long, coming up in March. The first weekend I will be in Rochester, NY and the other in Vermillion, Canada. This will be the second competition that I have judged there. It is interesting to see the similarities and differences, too.

Other than going to Vancouver, to take a cruise to Alaska, this is the farthest west, I will have been in Canada, and north, too. I wish that I could have time to do some sightseeing!

You're probably landing in Edmonton, so you will see some really nice winter scenery (what little we have had of it). If you only had time to see West Edmonton Mall. It is so beautiful. (I kid, kinda).

Yes, that is where my flight lands. It will be the longest plane trip, alone for me. The most I ever flew alone was a couple of hours, though I have been held over for many hours, by myself.

Yeah, pretty much everywhere is a long flight for us, except Calgary or Vancouver, and there are almost no direct flights anywhere good. However, I think you will get to go through our new American terminal, and it is nice. They keep showing it on the nightly news and I really can't wait till I go to Vegas this summer to see it. There is a lot of great art and they have local musicians performing pretty much everyday. I nanny about ten minutes from the airport.

To get to Vermillion you have to pass my house, and I am pretty sure you are getting pretty close to Hummingbird's territory

I would love that, but alas, the competition life is a cruel and fast paced one... Just kidding and being far to over dramatic! Perhaps some other time!

In fact she's adjudicating at the dance festival run by one of my dance studio's and both of the studio's I work for and both of the studio's my daughter work for will be competing there.

We're all really looking forward to it.

Vermilion is a very small, quaint town so any sight seeing or shopping would be much better done in Edmonton.

Triskit, I'm in Sherwood Park, though I go to school and nanny in the city! I work for the County of Strathcona!

My husband went to school in Vermillion (there is a big fire fighter's college there)/

The NY one was canceled, due to low entries. Sadly, but I do get a weekend off.

The competition is right across the road from the Fire-fighters college, in the Lakeland College campus, it's the Vermilion Dance Association that runs it.
