Ok so I won't be able to start pointe until next year at the earliest. But I wanted to get some tips about pointe in general I have done lots of research but I know there is a lot more. I want to be a proffesional dancer and am planning on going to juilliard for college. So you might be able to tell I am a VERY dedicated dancer! Oh and to get into pointe in my studio we have to take a pointe examination so this year my teacher did one for all of the people in my class so we can have the critique and we can know what the test is on. 2 Replies to Pointe tips any are welcome! |

I think a better use of your time would be to focus on your technique and strength so that when you go en pointe next year, you'll be able to apply corrections well. Pointe is like relearning ballet, suddenly your center of gravity is higher and you're balancing on a much smaller, slicker surface. You'll want to in the next year focus on holding your turnout, extending through and articulating your feet, and making sure you're pulling up up up out of your feet and holding your upper body with your abs and back. Work on strengthening your ankles and toes, a theraband can help with this.
I admire your dedication! |

Theraband your feet, work your turnout, do some crunches. Pointe requires strength from your whole body, not just your feet. |
