So my ob/gyn finally wrote out a script for Metformin due to my PCOS. I was reading up on the side effects and it kind of freaked me out. I would be taking a small dose (500), but I am still worried. Has anyone on here taken Metformin and suffered any ill effects? Did you notice a weight change?
Thanks

I took it and it made me sick. I dropped it after 3 doses. |

I haven't taken it but my mom's friend's daughter took it for a while and it really helped her PCOS. I don't think she had any negative side effects. |

I took it as well. My poor tummy.
Some people find it doesn't bother them. Ask you doc if you can start off with Tring a lower dosage ( docs usually start people on too high of a dosage and it effects tummies) and gradually wean ourlef onto it. That is what few other sisters recommended to me and my doc said it was ok to do it. |

I'm actual going to my doctor this week to discuss birth control and metformin. My weight gain is getting crazy, the dark hair, it's all getting worse in the last few months and it's really getting me down
Let me know how you go! |

Oh and if you are really not digging the Metiformin give Chasteberry a try. It's an herb and has very little (if any actually) side effects. It helps a lot of PCOS gals, myself included. |
