I am a left brain dancer. I like to read and see what else is being though and what other ideas are circulating. One of my favorite things to do is read dance books that talk about pedagogy or ideas for the classroom. Does anyone have any good book suggestions? 2 Replies to Dance books/lesson plans |

Teaching Classical Ballet and Advanced Principles of Teaching Classical Ballet both by John White
School of Classical Dance by Vera Kostrovitskaya
Basic Principles of Classical Ballet by Agrippina Vaganova
Ballet Pedagogy: The Art of Teaching by Rory Foster
Classical Ballet Technique by Gretchen W. Warren
Classes in Classical Ballet by Asaf Messerer
The Cecchetti Method of Classical Ballet: Theory and Technique by Cyril W. Beaumont
The Art of Teaching Ballet: Ten Twentieth-Century Masters by Gretchen W. Warren
100 Lessons in Classical Ballet: The Eight-Year Program of Leningrad's Vaganova Choreographic School by Vera S. Kostrovitskaya
I have all these books and have read them several times they are all wonderful resources for ballet teachers. I have quite a dance library but these are some of the ones i find myself referring to most often. |
