So I put on a hoodie earlier and was in the basement washing laundry and when I came upstairs I realized my ear was throbbing so I went and looked in the mirror and noticed my whole ear was completely red. My ear is significantly warmer than my other ear. It is giving me a small amount of pain but mostly it's uncomfortable. It feels like I lit my ear on fire.
This is the closest picture I could find to my ear.

If it gets any worse or if the pain increases I will go to the ER but I'm hoping it doesn't come to that. Any advice?
I could not find a spider anywhere so that worries me too because we have dogs. 5 Replies to Spider Bite on Ear?! |

Is there an actual bite? Or bump? Or something?
When I had staph infection for the first time, I went to the doctor thinking it was a spider bite. Doc asked me if I'd ever seen a spider in my apartment and I said well, no. He then asked why I thought it was a spider bite of all things. I kind of just stared at him blankly. So, I ask you the same question... If you haven't seen a spider, why do you think it's a spider bite?
If it gets worse, definitely make an appointment with your doctor or go to a doc in the box (urgent care clinic). The ER is probably a little extreme. |

I'm assuming it was a spider because we have spiders in the basement and the reaction was all of a sudden. It feels like an allergic reaction to be honest. I have really sensitive ears and can't wear most earrings so in the past when I put an junky earring in my ear would turn red and swell like this but this is 10X worse.
I sent my brother a picture of my ear and he thought it looked bad. I do have a couple tiny bumps but that just be from the reaction. And I have a new spider bite on my wrist from this afternoon. |

Have you eaten or touched anything out of the ordinary? Do you have Benedryl in the house? If you do, take some and see if it subsides a little. |

I haven't ate anything bizarre. I just took some benedryl just now so hopefully that'll help. The only thing new we have is my step dad bought carpet powder and used it today. I was playing with the dogs in the living room so I could have a reaction from that.
I have really bizarre allergies like once my mom bought generic bathroom cleaner and I had a reaction so bad I was out of school for two weeks. |

So I fall asleep after taking the benadryl and today my ear is fine. I think I had a bizarre reaction to something. |
