I've been asked so many times to perform for nothing as a dancer because it's for a fundraiser or for charity or as a favour I can totally understand this one. I did have a non profit organisation rate when I performed and it wasn't a big fat 0 even if people thought it should be. They still paid for their venue, they still paid for their tech guys but they expected the performers to work for nothing, why is that fair? As a SO I always did work for nothing or very little to start off with because I wanted my business to last more than a couple of years and to be able to start making a profit in the end.

^ O, and so often they tell me the demo is a good way for me to attrack new students. Like they do me a favor.

Isn't it ironic that I posted this, yet I just spent the entire weekend at a huge arts festival and gave away my time for free the last 3 days? haha! Just today I spent an hour teaching at the demo tent, for free, not including the 45 minutes it took to get there, the $5 for parking, and the drive home. Oh well....
