Hi

I am a professional Dance Educator with degrees in Dance Education and Musical Theatre. Two of my passions are injury prevention in young dancers, and using the arts to teach in public schools. I have assisted in writing the Dance education standards/curric. in my state which are begining to be adapted throughout the US.

I teach over 500 students each week ranging in age from 18 mos ( eek!) to professionals in studios and a performing arts High School. My mom and grandmother were both dancers/ instructors and studio owners... so I guess it's in my blood!

Although I also work part time as a freelance producer for ABC news, I left my full time position to teach dance because I missed it so much! But when i do have my "alter ego" present, I work primarily on Political and national news stories, most recently covering the 08 presidential race.

As a former Pageant participant I also coach young girls in the Miss America Organization. While I was competing my platform was Integrating Arts in Education, Using dance and Music as a way to teach math, history, english, etc. I think pageants are a wonderful way for young girls to gain self esteem, confidence and public speaking skills.

I enjoyed your bio as well. I'd love to know more about your curriculum for the public schools. I think that's fantastic!
