I am a uniquely crafted individual who thrives on expressing emotions and life's journey through all genres of dance. My favorites include jazz, hip hop, and lyrical.
Although I possess many gifts such as music and writing poetry, I started showing great interest in dance at the age of three. Finally realizing my talents, my parents allowed me, at the age of eight, to be the youngest dancer ever on the local high school's dance team. The Hoop Girls, as they were called, accepted me and formally started my dancing career.
I am the founder and president of The Blaq Silhouettes Dance Team where female dancers at SSU can shine. I created this dance team so that female dancers of all genres could have a harbor to express the one passion we all share. Since the team was founded on November 2, 2011, the team has performed at numerous campus events. The team also traveled to Sanford, Florida to teach a dance camp to the young girls in the community. We also competed in the 5th Annual FallOut Dance Competition at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia where we received 2nd place.
Currently holding a 3.7 GPA, I will receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual and Performing Arts with an emphasis in Dance in May of 2013. I do not know what my future holds but I know that dance will forever be apart of it. I fully believe in the quote by Martha Graham; “Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion.”
