barefootgrace's Bio

"'...And what happens when we reach the end of infinity? And what colour is it? That's the question. What do we see when we stand on the terrace of infinity?'...

Infinity, I happen to know, is the colour of sludge and dead seals, of sunken battleships and their crews, the dregs of Monday mornings and the lees of Saturday nights and of small harbours on the north-east coast in January. But I kept that knowledge to myself."

~ from Emotionally Weird by Kate Atkinson

The quote, because it's one of my favorite books. And because my husband bought it and gave it to me saying "The title reminded me of you." i figure that if anyone knows me, it's Ed. Even my Daddy calls me "quirky."

Otherwise? Well, i wanted to be a writer. i wanted to be a physical therapist. i wanted to be an Olympic swimmer. i wanted to be a scientist, a teacher, a doctor, a righter of wrongs...Underneath it all i wanted to be a dancer. Now, i'm a Coast Guard wife, always moving. i'm a housewife, always cleaning. i'm a mommie to two beautiful girls, always worrying. i've lived in five different states, visited four different countries, attended three different colleges, moved too many times to even bother to count...And all before the age of 30. Go figure. (Oh, wow. Now that i'm almost 30 i might have to change that second to last sentence. But even once i'm thirty it will be accurate, so i guess it can stay.)

As far as dance goes, i've been dancing since the age of five. i studied ballet (French technique) for 17 years with a woman who danced professionally in France. i also took a few ballet technique classes in college. Here recently, i've had the opportunity to study a little Vaganova technique as well, but not much. i majored in Dance and English (Dance Education for a little while, too) in college, but i'm not quite finished with my bachelor's yet. i'm looking forward to going back here, soon. i took 2 years of mixed modern at one university, and 2 years of Hawkins Technique at another. i love Hawkins, but i'm interested in other forms, too. i feel like one of the best things about dance is that there is always something new to learn.
