Blue_Bonnets's Bio
I started taking lessons in South Africa in August 1994, at the age of 13, and entered my first competition in Grade 8 in February 1995 at age 14. After six months I moved into Novice, which unfortunately meant upgrading at the year's largest competition, the Royal Scottish Gathering. After winning my section in both Highland and National at my very last Beginner's competition, I finally got a kilt of my choice: I got Dress Cooper. I upgraded seven competitions later, AGAIN at R.S.G. into Intermediate. (That would have meant, of course, that my first competition as a Premier would have been R.S.G., but I never actually got there.....)
My family and I immigrated before I got to R.S.G. Premier; we moved to Canada. Competing became difficult because classes seemed to clash with school extra-curricular committments. Then university happened, and full-time studies combined with full-time work didn't leave much space for dancing.
Now, nearly ten years since my last competition, I'm actually seriously looking at getting back into dancing. But I live two hours away from the closest teacher.... so there are still obstacles. But I'm determined.... this WILL be the year that I get a ScotDance card, a new jig outfit, as mine is rather dated, and a white dress for Nationals (nearly complete). I'm VERY excited!!
