Burkegirl's Bio

My name is Julia, and I'm an Irish Dancer competing in the Mid American Region. Currently, I dance in Preliminary Championships under 16, and have been involved with the Burke School in Ohio for six years. Irish Dance is the passion of my life, and I live for every moment. Even the challenges it provides are rewarding to me. I find myself so very thankful that God has blessed me with the gift of dancing, something that brings me so much joy.

I've missed out on three years of dancing total, due to severe illness. I suffered from Anorexia Nervosa at the age of 13, to the point of hopsitalization and near death. Even during my worst days, I remained hopeful, becuase I knew that I would get better so I could dance again. Dancing literally saved my life, and pulled me through some of the roughest and darkest spots I've ever expirienced. During that period of darkness, I managed to find light through faith. God helped me see the simple pleasures that everyday life holds, the pleasures that I can embark upon with a positive attitude. I came to realize that dance isn't just a hobby to me, but it's my saving grace.

Outside of dancing, I'm invovled with my highschool's Cross Country and Track teams. I adore running, as well, and the endurance factor really compliments my dancing (especially those pesky third steps), if I do say so myself! And yes, I'm on the debate team, too along with being a member of Key Club, Latin Club, and Students Against Drunk Driving. Call me a nerd, but I'd rather stick my head in a good book opposed to "partying" like the "typical" teen. But hey, what is typical anymore? lol Oh, and I'm quite obsessive- perfectionistic if you will- over my grades (and everything else I do!)

I plan on staying in dance until I can't walk anymore, I'm dead serious. It's my addiciton, my love, my passion, and I won't give it up until it's literally impossible for me to dance anymore. AWW thanks!! Were you there? Cause I totally didn't see you... haha unless you weren't there...hmm. sorry for the delayed reaction! Between dance, school, and track, things are crazy...I got third at ROI Feis this weekend too!! Cant wait to see u!

Thank you so much! Loved getting to see you dance too, everyone is so friendly. I hope we run into each other soon. Well, not on stage, because that would hurt, but at a feis. Are you doing Albany or Rockland?

oh yes going first was amazing.haha NOT congrats on your placement! haha my dancing this weekend....haha. yeah that was my worst feis so far like ever. I'd just been getting over a severe injury, and now im on crutches again it's silly.
