danceteachr4life's Bio

What can I say? I love to dance. I think I am very lucky person to be able to get paid for what I love to do on a daily basis. I have danced since the age of 2. I was very competitive up until High School when I got more involved in Show Choir.

I was a Musical Theatre major at Vincennes University where I did several musicals and operas (singing and dancing) Including Dido & Aeneus, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, and Once Upon A Mattress. I was also Captain of the VU BLazerettes for one and a half years. I went to VU knowing no one and left with lots more knowledge, a sense of self, a dog, and a fiance!

I am currently on my 5th year of teaching. I mostly teach the little ones. I also teach several children with mental and/or physical disabilities, which can be chanllenging. I feel that those are the student I learn the most from. I actually prefer the little ones over the bigger ones. Not so much attitude! And they cant get grounded from dance or complain and moan! It still absolutely amazes me that the little ones can be jumping up and down and then their tummies hurt when it's time to do their dance....I just dont get it (wink!wink!)

I also have a son (born August '06) and I already have his debut dance done -- now I just have to wait for him to turn 3. Ha! I know I keep telling myself it's okay if he doesnt dance, dont be a pushy mom, but I dont think I can help it!

All in all, I feel very blessed to be living the life I am. I have a wonderful family and wonderful students. And times do get rough, but it's the love of dance that got me hooked and it's the love of dance that gets me through!
