I did ballet when i was three and four but my best friend was a tomboy and i wanted to be like her so i quit when i was 5. I was really into dance and wanted to dance again so badly after seeing movies like center stage and billy elliot that my mum signed me up for tap, jazz and ballet (all in ONE HOUR--hahah hello dolly dinkle!) when i was in fourth or fifth grade. I continued at that location through sixth grade but decided I wanted to focus on ballet. I started dancing at Moniques in seventh grade. When I was in eighth grade, I began pointe work. I was 13 at that time and I always say it's such a shame I didn't stay in ballet for the long-hall when I was three because I would have been the perfect candidate to go on pointe when I was 10 because I developed so early. When i started ninth grade I realized that if I was ever to get anywhere in the dance world I needed much more than one class a week! so I signed up for a tap/ballet combo class at moniques, as well as intermediate ballet. But that wasn't enough, the same year I started dancing at YDE, which I loved. I actually felt challenged and it was more fun being able to go to 3 or 4 classes a week rather than just one or maybe if I'm lucky, two. I started full time at YDE during tenth grade. It was amazing, I was dancing constantly, the only days I didn't have rehearsals or class was fridays and wednesdays. My jr. year I spent about a week at an arts high school but I decided that first of all, I didn't want to have to leave a bunch of really close friends behind twice and second of all, I didn't want to leave my old friends behind. Now I'm a senior and planning to major in dance next year.
