Lebo1213's Bio

For my Dance, Teaching, and Choreography Resume(s), including Awards Sheet, please email me at leezybroccoli@gmail.com.

My grandmother decided I should dance when I was two, and at 5, my mother and grandmother switched me from the general dance school I had been attending to the Lelia Haller School of Ballet (New Orleans, LA), which was the premiere ballet school at the time. The Haller School produced local dancers and teachers such as Joseph Giacobbe, Harvey Hysell and Gayle Parmelee, who have in turn produced dancers who are currently dancing with ABT, PNB, etc. Through the Haller school, I learned the Cechetti syllabus and my enduring love for classical ballet. At this time, I also studied and competed acrogymnastics for the Igor Ashkinazi School.

During high school, under the tutelage of Liz Argus and Melanie Williams, I began vocal and stage training and had my first brush with swing dancing. Throughout college, swing dancing would become a passion and a competitive sport. It was only after college that I began trying my hand at teaching. I taught, stage managed, choreographed and danced for the Lorrie Fraley-Wilson School of Dance (WA) and honed my stage managing skills under David Baker.

Upon returning to the New Orleans area after three years in WA, I joined the Loyola University Ballet Program, where I studied the Vaganova (Russian) Ballet syllabus, as both student and teacher, under Laura Zambrano and Gayle Parmelee. I also joined the Komenka Ethnic Dance and Music Ensemble, a New Orleans-based dance company, with an international reputation. Through my time with the company, I have danced on stages around the world (Italy, France, Poland and Bulgaria, to name a few!) and have learned to love character dance! I have also been busy at Sandra Dottolo's Dance, Etc. (Reserve, LA) where I teach all levels of Ballet, Competition Jazz and Lyrical Jazz and Competition for Beginners. My choreography and dancers for these competitions have won local and national recognition and placement.

I feel blessed to be able to do what I do and look forward to every new dance experience that comes my way!
