James "Semaj" Dority is a multi-instrumentalist, Producer, Agent, and the owner of Semaj X. Productions based in Chicago, IL. a Talent Referral, Music Promotional Advertising Service, and distribution company.
Semaj started playing piano at the age of 3 years old, and on his musical journey he has worn the titles of a Music Teacher, Studio Musician, Band Leader, Minister of Music, Music Director, Talent Scout, Talent Agent, Composer, CEO, and Affiliated Songwriter at Famous Music Corp. Famous Music publishes artists such as Celine Dion and Garth Brooks.
Semaj won the Bernard Dieter Award for a Concerto written for Violin and Piano that was Published by Rapsodia Publications in his Sophomore year at the Chicago Conservatory of Music. This started his professional debut as a Composer. The song went to London, Paris, Montreal, and Chicago. He also composed instrumental music that was used as elevator music for Department Stores in Chicago. A band he joined and wrote songs for was offered a contract with Sony in Japan. His music and songs are published and heard from Hollywood to Germany.
Sometime when referring to Semaj or James, it's like talking about two different people. The business man and the musician. His business savvy mind is always enchanted by Creative Opportunites. His music varies from Rock, Blues, Jazz, Reggae, Gospel, to Classical.
Over the years he has worked along side some of the best performers and top music executives in the USA, and music industry. Now he's concentrating on promoting his music, the music of Bishop Joe Simon, and encouraging the up and coming artists as a Consultant, Manager, and Publisher.
Semaj believes "With God, All Things Are Possible!"
