James "Semaj" Dority is a Multi-instrumentalist, Producer, Agent, and the owner of Semaj X. Productions based now in Morrisonville, WI. SXP is a Talent Referral Service, Music Promotional Advertising Service, Management service for bands, and music lessons given on location.
Semaj started playing piano at the age of 3 years old, and on his musical journey he has worn the titles of a Music Teacher, Studio Musician, Band Leader, Minister of Music, Music Director, Talent Scout, Talent Agent, Composer, CEO, Affiliate Songwriter at Famous Music Corp, and Chi-Town Records. Famous Music publishes artists such as Celine Dion and Garth Brooks.
Semaj won the Bernard Dieter Award for a Concerto written for Violin and Piano that was Published by Rapsodia Publications in his Sophomore year at the Chicago Conservatory of Music. This started his professional debut as a Composer, and his music went to music stores in London, Paris, Montreal, and Chicago. He also composed instrumental music that was used as elevator music for Department Stores in Chicago.
Semaj has helped bands find agents, publishers, producers, and to receive endorsements.
The business man and the musician. His business savvy mind is always enchanted by Creative Opportunites. His music varies from Rock, Blues, Jazz, Reggae, Gospel, to Classical.
Over the years he has worked along side some of the best performers and top music executives in the music industry.
