Amanda Gregory began her dance career at the age of two and a half at “The Dance Place,” located in Pontiac, Michigan. She was trained in ballet until the age of five, when she began training in, and fell in love with, tap. At the age of eight she moved to Dallas, Georgia where she continued her training at “The Dallas School of Dance” in tap, ballet and jazz. Not long after beginning at this dance school she was invited to join the competition and performance team as one of its youngest members.
At the age of twelve she moved to Glendale, Arizona. Once the studio opened, she began to train at “Prestige Dance Academy” in ballet, jazz and tap. At the age of fourteen, Amanda began to train in hip-hop under Luciana Bell-Khalid, a member and choreographer for Foot Klan, a Phoenix-based hip-hop crew. She left “Prestige Dance Academy” to train in tap and ballet at “Spisak Dance Academy” in Glendale, Arizona. While training here she trained in hip-hop under Darryl Khalid, the director and main choreographer for Foot Klan.
Soon after, Amanda left the studio atmosphere to focus on her high school dance career. As a freshman at Dysart High School in El Mirage, Arizona she trained in modern, ballet and jazz under Oraldo Parra. Amanda also participated in the school’s Cheer and Stunt team, making Varsity and lettering. During her sophomore year she trained in modern, ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical and hip-hop at Willow Canyon High School, located in Surprise, Arizona. During this year, Amanda also participated in the after school hip-hop team.
During Amanda’s junior year she trained at Willow Canyon High School under Cynthia Garner, with the advice of Brad Garner as well. She continued to train in tap, ballet, jazz, classical jazz, lyrical, modern and hip-hop and began to train en pointe. Amanda also participated in Canyon Fusion Dance Company, the high school’s resident contemporary dance company, where she was elected Secretary.
Amanda graduated from high school on May 25, 2006. During her senior year, she trained in tap, ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, lyrical, and hip-hop under Sarah “Saza” Dimmick with the advice of Stephanie Daniels. She was Vice-President of the Canyon Fusion Dance Company and a captain of Public NV, her high school’s resident hip-hop team. She was also a teacher’s assistant in a beginning and intermediate level class at Willow Canyon High School, where she was given the chance to teach modern, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical and tap. After graduating from high school, Amanda became a member of Foot Klan and taught pre-dance, a ballet and tap combo class, tap and hip-hop at A Time To Dance studio in Surprise, Arizona for approximately a year and a half. She is currently back to focusing on her own dance career as well as opening her own studio in the near future.
