TravelBareFeet's Bio

Bare Feet™ is a 30 minute travel/dance show based around the folk dances and folk music of specific cities, countries, and regions around the world (i.e. Tango in Argentina, Flamenco in Spain, etc.). The show’s goal is to bring dance to the non-professional dancer/viewer in its truest and most original form – the expressive behavior that it allows in celebration and tradition. Dance and music are two huge components of a culture that are sometimes overlooked in the travel sector. Each episode will focus on a specific city and its indigenous dances (which are usually tied into a religious festival or holiday), the dance’s traditional music with unique style and instrumentation, the traditional dress and costume, the history of the dance and the region, the story-telling aspect of the dance and its culture, and the maintenance of the tradition in modern day life. Of course, the show will also highlight other aspects of the culture that are naturally tied into the traditions of these cultures (i.e. food, religion, architecture, etc.) The unique characteristic ofBare Feet™ is the immersion and integration of culture in the program; in each episode, the host, Mickela Mallozzi, will learn the cultural dances, wear the costumes, learn the music herself, all while showcasing the talents and beauties from each cultural region. The series begins with Mickela rediscovering her family’s past and finding the origin of her passion for dance, music and tradition – she takes that love for self-discovery in her quest to find the beauty and traditions of other cultures around the world through music, dance and art in her following episodes of Bare Feet™.
