vickidances's BioA graduate of the New School for Social Research where she studied psychology. Originally from New Jersey she has always been close to New York which allowed her to have trained under and be inspired by many of the top teachers of the craft. She has studied at schools such as Alvin Ailey and Steps on Broadway as well as her formal training at CCM in New Jersey under Joanne Staugaard –Jones.Since 1997 she has been a member of the Jette Performance Company. She has danced in music videos for the group Speedracer, which was broadcast on London Mtv, and she has traveled performing in industrials for Becton Dickenson Pharmaceuticals and King Central. She has showcased her own choreography at Steps, Dance Space Inc., Riverside Church, and a benefit for the Hope House in New Jersey. Her most recent choreography can be seen in Denise Austin’s, Fit Kids fitness video. Also a SAG member she has appeared in television and films including; Educating Max Bickford, Sex and the City, Kate and Leopold, Swimfan, Death of a Dynasty, and Mona Lisa Smiles. Currently you can find her teaching at Steps on Broadway, and is also a faculty member at the Hawaii International Dance Festival and The American Academy of Ballet. She has taught at many schools in the tri-state area as well as privately coaching many rising new stars. In addition she continues to travel as guest teacher, judge, and choreographer across the U.S. Canada and Malaysia where she taught and choreographed for a benefit raising money for cancer. Vicki Fischer-Jenkins is the founder and managing director of Stepping Stones, a consulting company for aspiring artists, parents, and studio owners. steppingstonespac.net As a teacher her dynamic and unique styles enables her to reach dancers of all ages and levels. Whether she is teaching jazz, modern, or tap her classes are structured to heighten awareness of body movements. Her classes begin with a thorough warm up that has a strong emphasis on technique and control. She believes in individual attention and gives corrections often. The warm-up is followed by an across the floor that consists of a series of turns and jumps. The class concludes with a combination that can range in style from modern jazz to funk, focusing on personal style and musicality.
